My name is Jaimie and I have the most amazing story. It ain't a secret in my family that we either go to jail or die early in a shooting. Stories that can make people uncomfortable are ok in our family. This cousin is out prison, this uncle just went to prison. This shooting, that crime, what a black cloud. I wanted to leave this life. I felt there was a better life for me. my family didn't understanding me. My family didn't see what I saw. My relatives thought everything was ok because they didn't see what I saw.
I decided to go get my GED. After that I went to get my CNA license. After a few years, I got my LPN license. I never thought that could be me. Today some of my family, the youngers cousins look up to me. they feel like there is something better out there. Even some of my kids friends think I am a role model. I thank God for giving the courage to go another way. I go away from the generation curse and finally do something with my life. I have a house, a car and a good job.
my favorite thing to do is going to the gym. I work out to keep myself in shape. I have to look cute. I keep myself busy all the time. I am happy that other people see me as a role model. I don't want to look back. I want to go forward all the time.
